Showreel and Engagement (Looking for Industry Jobs/ Networking IRL & for my Social Media account
Today we've looked into how to properly research for animation based jobs within the industry.
One suggestion from my tutors which I wish to follow up before the end of this academic year is to ask a local studio for a visit/ tour. Locally, the studio that I would most like to visit would be somewhere like Brown Bag or Kilogramme. When I think more further afield...
THE LINE studio in London, (creators of the music video for Gorillaz: Humilty) would be a studio I'd love to visit.
They have created shorts and projects that I really think appeal to my skills and my personal aesthetic.
I'm aware that all of the studios I have mentioned will be at Manchester Animation Festival next week,
In preparation for the many networking opportunities that will be available to me there, I have updated my business cards. I ordered 150 of them from Hello Print, so I will have plenty to hand out. They actually look professional this time around. Last year I had to quickly prepare some make-shift business cards out of inkjet and cartridge paper, so I'm happy that I will have something a bit more presentable this year.
Along with the new business cards, I have also gotten myself a new social media account. I had to make a business Instagram account because there were some less than flattering photos on my personal one.
Now that I have this new account, I can be tagged and plugged in the various posts from my final student film team @guj_animations.
I have also finally published my Facebook Art page. With this addition to my online persona, I now have an online presence on: Twitter: @jameslawson96
